GE Silicone II gasket & seal is waterproof and airtight. Keeping water and air out is a necessity when forming gasket and seals on engine parts, cars, and appliances. Otherwise, water leakage or other damage could occur. Silicone is impervious to water, meaning water can't get through it and will never break it down. Once cured, it also does not change or degrade—no shrinking, hardening, cracking or crumbling—so gaps and cracks, which could allow unwanted air to seep through, won't form. Resists high temperature, UV, oil/grease. The areas where gaskets are formed are oftentimes exposed to extreme temperatures or UV rays. These conditions can cause other sealants to lose flexibility and degrade, leaving gaps for air and water to pass. Silicone remains unaffected and can withstand extreme temperatures, harsh outdoor elements, and even oil/grease. It will not crack, crumble, or break down.
